Virtual Wine Tasting
Monastrell and Jumilla
Discover the region of Jumilla, south of Spain, its history, emblematic wineries, terroir characteristics, grape varieties and wine styles. Get to know why Jumilla is making bold red wines with intense concentration of flavours and also great value for the price!

We will also describe the grape variety Monastrell, also known as Mourvèdre in France and Mataro in California and Australia

You can join the virtual wine tasting from anywhere in the world! Ideally, you would buy a wine from Jumilla (Spain) or alternatively you could buy a wine made using Monastrell (Mourvèdre / Mataro) grape variety from a different wine region in the world.

Apart from the wine suggestions we will share food pairings ideas for you to enjoy the wine session to the fullest!

Here is a list of wineries / wine recommendations:

– Bodega Juan Gil: Silver label or Blue label; Honoro Vera
– Bodegas Carchelo
– Bodega Luzón
– Ego Bodegas, El Gorú
– Bodega Casa de la Ermita
– Bodegas Alceño
– Bodega San Dionisio: Mainetes wine
– Bodegas Bleda
– Bodegas Torrecastillo
– Bodega Cerrón: El Sentido de la Vida wine (mainly made with Monastrell) or Rabia wine (Petit Verdot)

If you can’t find a wine from Jumilla, you can try Yecla or Alicante (Spain); since these are neighbouring regions.

Otherwise, a wine made with “Mourvèdre” (in France, Languedoc-Rousillon and Châteauneuf du Pape, but those wines are a “coupage”, a blend of various grape varieties including Mourvèdre) or “Mataro” (in California and Australia); those names correspond to the same grape variety Monastrell.

We make it really interactive, informative and fun!

This session on Sunday 24th will take place in English!

Looking forward to seeing you at the virtual wine tasting!

The tasting will be conducted by Jimena, Spanish wine connoisseur and founder of Colorful Wines, a company focused on organising wine tours to different Spanish wine regions, wine tastings and team building experiences. Jimena is WSET level 3 certified and she is also a Cava and Sherry wine Educator.
