Online Wine Tasting
Rioja Wine Region
Discover the fascinating history of Rioja and “El Barrio de la Estación” (Haro Station district)!
Invite friends and family members to join this fantastic online wine experience.

During this private online wine tasting, you will be guided by Jimena, Sommelier and WSET certified, specialised in Spanish wines. The total price is 195€ and you can invite up to 20 people.

This tasting will be conducted in English.

El Barrio de la Estación in Haro was born when the railway was inaugurated in 1863, allowing the wine trade between Rioja and France. Spain started to make fine wines following the style of Bordeaux wines (aged in French barrels and bottled).

Find out why Rioja became the most international and acclaimed Spanish wine region. Get familiar with the region different subareas, its terroir, the winemaking methods, its most recognised wineries, among other key facts.

This will be an interactive online wine tasting (on Zoom); after the presentation, we will go through different stages of wine tasting, to comment and exchange impressions about the wines attendees will be tasting. You can also ask Jimena questions about the region of Rioja and the wines.

We are sharing wine suggestions as well as food pairing options below, so you can sit comfortably and relax at home while enjoying this virtual experience!  The idea is that you can open a bottle of Rioja wine and also grab some food with it.

We will perform an interactive virtual wine tasting through Zoom so you can ask questions while enjoying the wine and the food you have prepared at home to pair it.

I will give you interesting and useful tips about

  • Reading Spanish wine labels
  • Matching Rioja wines and food so you can enjoy fantastic wine and food pairings at home.

Find below suggestions of wines and food pairings so you can enjoy this virtual trip to Haro, in Rioja Alta to the fullest!

What our previous customers say about our online wine tastings!

‘We have had the opportunity to enjoy 4 wine tasting sessions with Colorful Wines during our lockdown. Although our main purpose was to give us something different to do, it has been a great learning experience, Ximena makes it very educational with key facts and history as well as differences between each wine region in Spain. We learn about the types of grapes, the impact of the climate, the process, storage, etc. We are looking forward to our next virtual tasting and preparing for a real live one as soon as we can.’
Eduardo Salazar, Wokingham, UK

‘It has been an amazing experience to attend the virtual tours that Colorful wines has been organising.
Each week Jimena takes you to a different region or presents a type of wine and it’s like you are there in Spain with her; you can imagine what would it be to visit those wineries and sip a glass of wine while enjoying magnificent scenery.
I particularly appreciate learning about the history that has allowed those wines to become what they are, the influence that Phoenicians or Romans had.
Then you get to try authentic gems from each region that I could had easily overlook without Jimena’s expert guidance.
The icing on the cake is to learn which food pairs best with the wine you are enjoying.
I can’t recommend you enough to join the next virtual tour, you will be hooked!’
Diahann Benítez, Bern, Switzerland
